Coming back to London felt a lot more like coming home than I had imagined. Stepping out of Heathrow Airport under the cloudy sky and avoiding the onslaught of paparazzi waiting for us there felt familiar and niceâexcept the paparazzi part, of course. When Cooper and I got back to the apartment and I entered the living room that was bright because of the natural light coming through the large windows, I felt instantly at peaceâa far different feeling than when I first stepped into this place. The new sense of home I had developed wasnât lost on me.
Despite just getting back to London, my stay here would be short-lived since I had decided to go to Miami after debating the trip for so long. So, I sat on the floor of the bedroom, separating the clothes from my suitcase either to be washed, put away in my closet, or kept to take to Miami. Although we had just arrived in London two days ago, the boys were already busy today with some radio interviews. So, I spent the day sorting my things for Miami, my passport and ticket sitting in my bedside drawer. Cooper bought the latter after ignoring my protests.
My flight was booked for the next day, so I really didnât have much time to get my things together. When I told Logan about me visiting, he had been beyond happy. The excitement in his voice was evident, and I prayed that this meant things were looking up for the two of us.
Around four in the afternoon, hunger struck me, and I headed down to the kitchen and left behind my unfinished packing. I decided to make myself a grilled cheese. After I took out the pan, butter, and cheese, I looked around for the loaf of bread Cooper had bought yesterday. I couldnât find itâuntil my eyes wandered upwards. I saw the loaf sitting on top of the fridge.
I tried to reach up, even going on the tips of my toes. I muttered, âGreat.â I was too short to reach it, and mentally I cursed Cooper for even putting it up there in the first place. He knew I couldnât reach that high; maybe it was his way of making sure I didnât eat up all the bread with the Nutella sandwiches I was prone to making.
I was about to turn to grab one of the chairs in the corner of the room to booster myself when suddenly, an arm from behind me reached up and grabbed the bag. My eyes widened when the familiar scent of Mont Blanc cologne and something indistinguishably Cooper invaded my senses. I turned around and looked up to see the man in question staring down at me, mirth dancing in his eyes. âBread?â He smirked, holding the pack in his hand.
My lips briefly pressed together as I took the package from him. My eyes were glued to his as I murmured, âThanks.â
Neither of us moved, though the proximity wasnât at all lost on us.
